Back to ExpressCard SSD FAQs

I've noticed that the device isn't being recognized when my laptop first boots up. I have to put the laptop to sleep, then wake the laptop up and then and only then, is the ExpressCard SSD recognized. What is the issue?
We have identified an issue with the current generation ExpressCard SSD and Windows O/S where the ExpressCard may not be recognized by the O/S during a cold boot cycle. Our firmware engineers are reviewing the problem and working with the controller manufacturer to develop a fix.

A temporary workaround for this issue is:
  1. Cold boot the PC - Windows O/S computer with the ExpressCard physically connected
  2. After the O/S has fully loaded and is stable, proceed
  3. Remove the 64/128 GB current generation ExpressCard
  4. Then re-insert the ExpressCard back into the slot
This workaround allows the Windows O/S to recognize the ExpressCard again.

PLEASE NOTE: We have only seen this issue in Sony and Lenovo computers.
