Why is my product not covered under warranty when it is evaluated to have physical damage?
Mobile Consumer Electronic (CE) products can be subjected to additional stress and environmental conditions not typically experienced by other fixed location CE products. While it is normal for any product to have a very small defect rate, the majority of mobile device failure is a result of adverse environmental conditions, like dropping the unit or damaging charging/audio ports due to improper cable insertion/extraction to name a few common causes.

Device performance can be immediately impacted or continue with some reduced level of intermittent behavior until it seems that the unit needs warranty servicing. However, physical damage can actually be the primary cause for device failure no matter how long the unit continued to otherwise work. Physical damage cannot be repaired and is not covered under the warranty. Any product returned for warranty service with physical damage precludes a true root cause analysis. The presence of physical damage voids all warranty claims despite any other technical issues that product performance demonstrates.
