I see that the NetWaiting software is included with my USB CX Modem, do I need to use it? What is NetWaiting anyway?
NetWaiting is a feature available in software that allows you to receive calls (hear a ring thru) while you are connected online via the modem. Without this feature, callers to your number will get a busy signal just like if you were on another phone call.

It is not mandatory to use the NetWaiting software in order to use the CX modem. However, to take advantage of the NetWaiting feature, you will have to make sure that your phone company provider can supply you with Caller ID AND Call Waiting services.

If you have not asked for these services from your phone provider, you will likely not get them as part of the default basic phone service. These are typically an extra, fee based supplemental service to the basic phone package. Contact your phone provider to determine if you have these features or need to upgrade your phone service package.

Installing NetWaiting software without the availability of Caller ID/Call Waiting does no harm but those features on the software interface will be grayed out (can't click on them since they won't be active).

Remember, it is important that you must subscribe to Caller ID, and Call Waiting to enable the "Modem on Hold" functionality, temporarily placing your internet connection on hold while you take the incoming phone call, then switching back to internet activity.
