How do I properly install the FileMate 4-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express Card? (my ports don't recognize the USB device I plugged in)
Find an empty PCIe (PCI Express) slot on the motherboard and correctly insert the FileMate 4-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express card and screw down to the case properly. MAKE SURE to connect the white MOLEX power connector on the inside back of the card (which provides the power needed to run USB devices from the ports on the card). Most computers will have an extra four pin Molex male power connector but you may find you need an adapter or extension to reach the location where the card sits on the motherboard. These adapters/extensions are widely available and easily sourced if needed. However, most computers will not need them. Failure to connect the Molex power connector will prevent the ports on the card from working correctly. You may find this out later and have to go back and connect the Molex power connector when the card fails to identify your USB device to the operating system. The FileMate 4-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express card is backward compatible with USB 1.1/2.0 devices.
